Amanda, it is neither. You model is power by a tractor. The tractor can either be gasoline or diesel. The horsepower at the PTO needs to be 60 to properly run your model.

I have a win power pto generator. The unit has 4 connectors. 2 mail pins, 1 female pin, and 1 wire grounds to case. I want to run my home, but I want to connect it correctly. Red plug to red female on unit, black pin to black female. white female to white pin socket, ground to case. Is this correct? Mark

I have an older model Winpower 50/30 PTCD my dad bought years ago to use on the farm. Serial #MO-4537-122. I believe that places it as being manufactured somewhere between early-mid 1979. I would like to be able to use it to power my whole house during hurricanes/ice storms, etc. I assume I can use the 240V/50 amp receptacle, to connect to a transfer switch. What size cable would I need to connect the generator to the transfer box? The main things I would need to run are a refrigerator, chest freezer, water pump for our deep well, and a 42 gallon electric water heater. And maybe a few lights, TV, WI-FI router, and small appliances like a toaster oven, or small microwave. We have a wood heater, so no electric heat needed. My dad and husband were both good with electrical hook-ups and wiring, but both passed away years ago. The generator has a large plug with 3 heavy cables on the back, I believe it is called an Anderson powerpole connector. The cables are about 10 feet long, but they are old and the insulation is cracked all around and I wouldn’t dare use them unless they were replaced. There are no clips on the ends, just bare wire, and I assume they would connect directly into a main breaker box if one wanted to use them? Just out of curiosity, how would they hook up, and what would you hook them to? Cables look to be about 1/0 size or so. I think I read that the port with the Anderson connector was something like 175 amp? My nephew borrowed the generator a couple of years ago, to power one of their tobacco curing barns during a hurricane. He’s pretty knowledgeable about electrical wiring and hook-ups, and I could probably ask him about these things. Thank you for your time, I was just hoping to get information on the generator if possible.

Viola, please contact a local electrician for new wires between a manual transfer switch and your generator. If you need a new plug kit, it is BP10097 and you can buy it directly from our parts department at 507-357-6831.
